New Scanner Equals Updates
last modified: Friday, August 22, 2008 (5:11:00 AM CST)
To be honest, the new scanner was bought a month or so ago but I was beyond busy, never getting the chance to use it until today. The difference in the overall quality is just amazing. I knew my last scanner had a slight yellowish tint problem but "Mein Gott" it was much worse than I originally imagined. Seeing the old vs. the new is making my OCD kick in, meaning there will be rescanning in the near future.

Okay enough about my scanner!! On to the update!!

I am basically playing catch up since my scanner decided to kill off last May/June. The update was prompted by my husbands early Anniversary gift to me. I cannot thank him nor the seller enough for them both.

Wasn't It May Flowers
last modified: Saturday, May 31, 2008 (3:12:17 PM CST)
My tale starts and hopefully ends in May...

It was the first day of May, like most everyone else I was eagerly anticipating Linda's offer period. That was until my water heater decided to commit suicide in my cellar. Not only did I have to hire a plumber and purchase a new water heater *cha ching* but because I was a dumbass I burned my hand. I have no excuse, it was one of the dumbest things I have ever done, if you see water that is steaming any moron knows NO TOUCHIE!!

Then not even two days after the new water heater was installed the construction workers building the house down the street accidentally broke the main water line. The huge hole they had dug was now full of endless nasty muddy water... guess where that went. You are correct... the entire neighborhood including myself had muddy water for days until they had finally fixed that fiasco.

My tale continues to the following weekend. I go to pick up my dry cleaning from my local cleaners. I had never used them before but due to the rising gas prices I decided to give them a try, seemed harmless enough. That was a bad move. They wrote my name permanently on all my clothing, not to mention three of my items were not even cleaned properly. I noticed what they had done, immediately asking "why the hell they would permanently write on a person's belongings without even warning they would do so". Their response was "they have always done that, I should have known"... right, like I can read minds and foresee the future. I demanded a refund since they had defaced my property. This request made her husband furious, he started an illogical argument which was not going his way so he ended it by running at me in an attempt to push me out of the cleaners. So needless to say, that has escalated into a small claim.

Same weekend, I received an email from my webhost stating someone had hijacked my account. They mention they had deleted my website and replaced it with a backup. The backup copy they had was from years ago and is missing coding somewhere, most everything is completely messed up. All my work reconstructing it last year has gone straight down the tube. I will be deleting the entire site and using my domain/host for personal use from now on.

Onward to the next weekend... yes sadly the tale continues, lol. So with this weekend brings thief's... my Explorer was broken into, my stereo system stolen. Personally that was the straw that broke the camels back. I travel quite a bit for my job and there is nothing worse than listening to a crappy stereo during long drives. Thankfully I had most of my last setup, it's an older model and the speakers/subwoofer are not near as crisp but they will work for now.

Then there was this past week, I finally decided to inquire about a health issue. I had not been up to par as of late and knew I needed to get in check. Thankfully it was nothing too serious but I have been set on a very strict daily routine for a month. I am not good with routines as I have not had one since High School but even so there is not a choice.

While each week had its own wondrous events the whole month has been endless dealings with the weathers consequences. Anyone from Oklahoma knows just how lovely the month of May is... tornados, hail and wind damage. Thankfully we have not had any tornados touch down near here but even so we have had three hail storms just this month. Progressive Insurance has been nothing but good to us concerning our vehicles but I cannot say the same for our home owner's insurance. Our metal siding is beat to hell, the guttering's are beat to hell and we have some minor roof damage and other minor damage. At minimum cost around eight thousand to repair, what do they give us... three thousand, needless to say we are fighting that.

And since May wanted to go out with a bang...

Call It Curiosity
last modified: Tuesday, October 09, 2007 (10:00:00 PM CST)
An odd question but I am curious as to how many other collector's other than myself have mucho amounts of scanning left unfinished... or should I ask, have you found it hard to find the time or energy to scan... yet are still actively collecting?

I ask this due to personal experience, seeing as how life has recently kept me quite busy so much so that when I do find any free time I find the thought of updating my gallery/website tiresome. In all honesty, I just want to IM a few close friends and chit chat about the days goings on and of course cels (or dougas when it comes to one friend). I see the itoyas and the boxes every time I walk into my office and immediately my brain starts to nag at me to finish what I started and yet I keep buying, keep searching, keep adding to the pile and keep ignoring it.

Ionno maybe I ask because I want to feel less uhm... lazy, lol... but I shall delude myself and call it curiosity!!
